OpenAI CEO Sam Altman Got Married to his Best Friend

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman marries longtime partner Oliver Mulherin in an intimate ceremony in Hawaii. Pictures of the ceremony show Altman and Mulherin surrounded by palm trees in the presence of around a dozen people.
Pictures of Altman’s wedding began circulating on social media on Thursday, showing the couple surrounded by palm trees in a ceremony apparently attended by only a dozen or so people.

According to a report by The Free Press Journal, Altman and Mulherin shared the news of their union via a post on Instagram. Mulherin while sharing the news in the post’s caption wrote, “married my best friend and love of my life.”

1) Mulherin, an Australian coder, has maintained a low profile over the years despite dating one of the popular personalities in the field of artificial intelligence.
2) The couple made one of the first public appearances when the OpenAI CEO took Mulherin to a White House dinner held in honour of Prime Minister Narendra Modi
3) According to his LinkedIn profile, Mulherin is a software graduate from the University of Melbourne where he worked on some AI-related projects before joining the IOTA Foundation in 2018. Mulherin has also worked as a software engineer at Meta for over 2 years, only leaving the company in November 2022.

4) In an interview with the New York Times last year, Altman revealed that Muherin loves big families and the couple plan to have children soon.
5) As per another New York Times report, Mulherin and Altman share a house on San Francisco’s Russian Hill which the OpenAI CEO purchased for a whopping sum of $27 million

Photos of the nuptials between the OpenAI CEO and Mulherin, who lives with Altman in California, circulated on social media on Thursday, with some asking if they were real.

The photos appear to be screenshots from Altman’s private Instagram profile. They show the couple dressed in crisp white button-down shirts and single orchid boutonnieres, standing under a bamboo chuppah in a tropical place.
In one photo, Altman’s brother, Jack Altman, the cofounder and executive chair of the software startup Lattice, watches in his officiant role as Sam slips a ring onto Mulherin’s left hand. Another photo shows the couple breaking glass, a traditional feature of Jewish weddings.The two appear to have opted for an intimate affair — a photo of the ceremony space shows about a dozen people in attendance.

The location and date of the ceremony is unknown.
Altman has kept his relationship with Mulherin relatively private over the years. The pair live together in San Francisco and made one of their first public appearances last year when the OpenAI CEO brought Mulherin to a White House dinner.

According to his LinkedIn profile, Mulherin, or “Ollie” as Altman calls him, worked at Meta for two years and studied computer science at the University of Melbourne.
